JOHN RABE
History teaches us good examples of how even in the most horrible conditions you can not only survive and remain human, but still be able to save many lives. Thousands of Jews venerate the blessed memory of Oskar Schindler, and a smaller number of Chinese people remember the sincere gratitude to John Rabe, a German merchant, who in the late thirties, was the leader of the Chinese unit of German company Siemens. In 1937 the Japanese army attacked the civilian population of Nanking, John Rabe, with the support of foreign doctors and missionaries gave a safety zone. Quarter of a million civilians have survived the Japanese attack there, went down in history as China's "Nanjing Massacre".
