Vâng, có thể TT Mỹ không nói, nhưng câu nói này (có lẽ là của tướng E. Lemay) có vang lên trong thời của Nixon, và được ngài áp dụng triệt để nhất trong lịch sử chiến tranh, mà cao điểm là vụ thảm sát bằng B52 trên bầu trời HN năm 1972.
President Nixon, believed in former US Air Force, Chief of Staff (1961-1965), General Curtis E. Lemay's word's, when referring to North Vietnam, in 1965; "...They've got to draw in their horns and stop their aggression, or
WE'RE GOING TO BOMB THEM BACK INTO THE STONE AGE!" (With the B-52 Stratofortress in mind).
President Nixon's "Big Stick" was his B-52's. In 1972, he employed them, with orders for a "maximum effort", during the aerial campaigns designated Linebacker & Linebacker II. Of which the Linebacker II air campaign has been dubbed the "Christmas Bombings" of 1972, by historians.

Evidence of LeMay's thinking is that in his 1965 autobiography, co-written with MacKinlay Kantor, LeMay is quoted as saying his response to North Vietnam would be to demand that "they’ve got to draw in their horns and stop their aggression, or we’re going to bomb them back into the Stone Age. And we would shove them back into the Stone Age with Air power or Naval power—not with ground forces."
